Application background
The customer operates a large-scale electrolytic hydrogen production and export facility. Raw electrolytic H₂ contains trace O₂ and saturated H₂O that must be polished to fuel-cell and export-grade specification before compression and liquefaction.
Feed gas & process conditions
| Gas | Electrolytic H₂ (alkaline + PEM) |
|---|---|
| Flow | 8 000 Nm³/h |
| Pressure | 3.0 MPa (g) |
| Temperature | 40 °C |
| Inlet impurities | O₂ 1 000 ppm, H₂O saturated, CO/CO₂ trace |
| Outlet requirement | ISO 14687 Grade D, O₂ < 5 ppm, H₂O < 5 ppm |
Main impurity challenge
Safe deoxygenation of a wet H₂ stream containing up to 0.1% O₂ across variable load (electrolyser turndown), with fully automated dew-point control.
Recommended product
Palladium-based deoxo reactor followed by dual-bed molecular sieve dryer with heat-of-adsorption recovery.
Technical result
- Outlet O₂ < 1 ppm, H₂O < 1 ppm sustained across full electrolyser turndown.
- Delivered as a modular skid within 14 weeks of design freeze.
- ATEX / IECEx compliant, remotely monitored from Kaiteli service center.
Customer value
Unlocked ISO 14687 export-grade certification, enabling long-term offtake contracts with liquefaction and fuel-cell customers.
